WELCOME TO NYST GALLERY

Nyst Gallery is one of the country's new avant garde fine art spaces.

 

The brain child of lawyers and feature film producers Chris Nyst and Jason Murakami, the Southport based gallery is redefining the look of galleries, how they operate and their relationship with artists.

 

Built in 2006, the gallery's public hanging area triples as a studio for shooting feature films and the reception area for the nationally renowned legal practice of Nyst Lawyers.

 

When developing the mission statement for the Gallery, both Nyst and Murakami sought the advices from one of the current leading private art dealers Lorraine Pilgrim, who assembled some of the country's leading young artists to make up the gallery's stable of fine artists.

 

Pilgrim who has had more than 38 years selling the likes of Brett Whiteley, Sidney Nolan and Robert Dickerson before joining Nyst and Murakami as Gallery Director, set the Gallery's direction towards promoting and exhibiting the best young artists the country has to offer. After playing a strong role in the careers of the likes of two of Australia's most sought after young artists Michael Zavros and Abby McCullough - Pilgrim knows good young talent when she sees it.
